Saturday 3 May, from 10 am to 4pmTo keep your home and our environment safe, RAC Batteries and RAC Auto Services are holding a Battery Recycling Day. You can drop your old car battery at any RAC Auto Service Centre. This is a great chance for our members and other motorists to safely dispose of their old batteries. We'll also be raising money to support Bush Heritage Australia. For every battery received, we'll donate $10 for members and $5 for non-members to help protect the Charles Darwin Reserve, a 68,000 hectare area East of Perth, in urgent need of conservation. Used automotive batteries are a potential hazard to humans, animals and the environment. Many people are unsure of how to safely dispose of them as they can't be disposed through normal household rubbish or at your council tip. The good news is that old batteries are 96% recyclable and last year RAC Batteries recycled 56,128 of them. RAC Auto Services will open their doors on Saturday 3 May to assist motorists dropping off old or unused automotive batteries for recycling. RAC Auto Services are located in the following metropolitan suburbs. You can also print out a map from our branch locator.
Important Safety Tips:1. Keep children well away from the battery during the handling process. 2. Wear gloves and safety glasses while handling batteries. 3. Keep batteries in an upright position and place in a sturdy container for transporting. 4. Switch off your car engine while unloading. 5. Avoid smoking near or exposing batteries to an open flame. |
